UNISG students visit
Students from the Universita degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche visited the farm on September 7 while on tour of food and wine establishments across Ontario. As it happened they just missed our annual Labour Day weekend Heirloom Hurrah Tomato Tasting but since we were all set up we treated them to a private paired down version.

CRAFT Interns on the farm
New this year to Eastern Ontario, CRAFT Kingston already has a dozen or so farms and around 25 interns teamed up and farming. We have our own locally-grown interns Stacey Hubbs and Jocelyn Wattam with us for the second year on the farm as young farmers!
Within CRAFT’s program outline, interns work with a host farm to help the farm carry-on daily business and in turn learn from the farm and host farmers. Every month there is a group gathering on one of the farms for interns and host farmers. These are great opportunities for everyone to learn, share farm knowledge and build networks from a farm perspective. August 10th was our turn to host a large group and share our experience of “Marketing a diversified market garden”. We toured the gardens, shared a pot-luck lunch, presented Vicki’s Veggies experience with marketing and sales, built hand weeders and then weeded a few rows of salad greens in short order - 25 weeders makes short work of long rows!
